Kim Basinger makes rare remark about where she stands with ex Alec Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria

Kim Basinger provided rare insight into where things stand between her and ex-husband Alec Baldwin these days — 23 years after their divorce.

“Alec and I have a great relationship. I have great respect for where he is today, and his family,” the “Never Say Never” actress told Variety in a new interview published Thursday.

She noted that, although they “don’t spend Christmases and holidays or see each other very much,” they still chat on the phone.

“We have a very genuinely cordial and I think loving relationship in a lot of ways, just because we share a daughter, and I don’t wish him anything but everything good,” she said, referencing their daughter, Ireland Baldwin, whom they welcomed in 1995.

Basinger, 71, also alluded to Alec’s recent involuntary manslaughter trial after a fatal accident on the set of “Rust,” noting that “he’s been through a lot lately.” The case was ultimately thrown out

.

“Hilaria [Baldwin] seems to have a great handle on that,” she clarified, adding, “So more power to her.”

While Alec shares Ireland with Basinger, he also has kids with Hilaria: Carmen Gabriela, 11, Rafael Thomas, 9, Leonardo Ángel Charles, 8, Romeo Alejandro David, 6, Eduardo “Edu” Pao Lucas, 4, María Lucía “Marilu” Victoria, 4, and Ilaria Catalina Irena, 2.
