Gold Coast influencer called out for faking an all expenses paid trip to the US for her employees: ‘We lied’

Gold Coast influencer Georgie Stevenson has failed to pull off an April Fool’s joke on her wellness brand’s 184,000 followers

The founder of Naked Harvest Supplements took to Instagram over the weekend to begin posting content from what appeared to be an all expenses paid trip to Los Angeles for her staff.

The social media star, 30, posted a video filmed in a Hummer limousine — supposedly interviewing her staff about the trip while on the way to Gold Coast Airport — on Friday.  ‘LA hates to see us coming. Okay we’ve teased you long enough… who’s ready to see all the US content?’ she captioned the post.

On Monday, Georgie shared a carousel of Photoshopped images of her staff members taking in the sights and posing in front of the Hollywood sign.

The post also included images of the US customs gate, a P.O.V shot from a business class seat on a Qantas flight, the Rodeo Drive street sign in Beverly Hills and a clip from an old Laker’s basketball game. On her Stories, a video montage of trip highlights, including half a dozen staff posing in an airport, was captioned: ‘This and your bosses shouting you an international trip,’ alongside a US flag emoji.

But the punchline to the joke was prematurely spoiled by Gerogie’s second carousel of images posted on Monday.

‘The In-N-Out photo is from 2023… the date is on the receipt,’ one eagle-eyed follower commented.

‘Anyone else think this looks photoshopped?’ added a second.

‘if you look at their body outlines in the photos it looks photoshopped for sure lol,’ decided a third follower.

Meanwhile, others pointed out that the few photos of Georgie and her female staff members supposedly posing up in front of iconic LA tourist destinations had no shadows.

On Tuesday, April 1, Georgie shared a professionally short video of herself and her brother and co-founder Coopa Stevenson strolling dramatically out of the airport, flanked by four staff members wheeling expensive-looking luggage cases.

‘Should we get an Uber back to the office?’ she can be heard saying almost imperceptibly at the end of the clip. In a follow-up video shared on Tuesday morning, Georgie wished her followers a ‘Happy April Fools’.

The pregnant influencer and brother posed up in front of a baby pink backdrop to deliver the somewhat expected punchline.

‘We have a confession to make,’ she said.

‘We might’ve lied to you guys,’ Coopa added.

‘We didn’t actually fly the entire team to the US,’ Georgie said.

‘Because we can’t even trade there,’ Coopa added.

‘We’re a little bit too naked for this world. It turns out, Naked is a bit too bold for some markets,’ Georgie said.

‘So it’s time to change things up. We are going to get fully exposed.’

The announcement ended there, on another teased reveal.

‘Who fell for it!?!?’ Georgie commented on the video.

She has, as of yet, not explained why her protein powders and wellness supplements cannot be sold in the United States.

Georgie and Coopa launched Naked Harvest in 2019, working out Coopa’s house for the first 12 months to build a supplement company better suited to women and people with food intolerances.

Per Seven in 2023, the brother-sister duo invested ‘close to $200,000’ in their start up and had turned over $20million and hired 30 employees.

Gerogie has 402,000 followers on Instagram and also hosts fitness podcast Rise & Conquer. Additionally, she retails courses on how to obtain ‘an abundance mindset’.

On her Stories on Tuesday, Georgie said her 30-day course will ‘help with mindset around money’ but also said it is ‘NOT financial advice’.

Georgie is one of Australia’s most outspoken influencers and has developed a reputation for voicing controversial views.

She has previously sparked backlash for claiming ‘getting sick is a choice’ and that she takes monthly overseas trips.
