On April 16, 2025, NewJeans faced yet another legal letdown when Seoul Central District Court rejected their appeal to break free from ADOR and continue the journey outside the company. Basically, they’re still legally glued to their agency and can’t do shows, endorsements, or release music without their permission. This all started in November 2024 when the five members—Haerin, Minji, Hyein, Danielle, and Hanni—tried to end their contracts by leaving the agency and saying ADOR failed to fulfill their contracts and broke their trust. However, the court approved a ruling back in March saying there wasn’t enough evidence of a full-blown trust meltdown to justify a contract break.

Fast forward to April 9, and after a 10-minute court session, the judge doubled down. Now, NewJeans’ last public appearance remains ComplexCon in Hong Kong on March 23, putting the group on an indefinite hiatus until this court showdown is officially solved. The legal drama continues, and fans are left wondering: Will NewJeans be free anytime soon?
